spring has sprung?

Dare I say it?  I saw a Robin the other day on the way home from my daughters' ballet class.  Being from NJ, my first thought was that spring is here!  Up north, the first sure sign of spring was seeing a Robin.  Then I got to wondering, do the Robins ever even leave down here in GA?  Maybe this is where they come when they fly south for the winter.  I mean really, winter down here is more like spring up there anyway.  Either way, we've been enjoying the nice warm weather.  I hope it doesn't get cold again. 

I finally got the chance to observe the girls' ballet class and take some pictures!  Miss E was a bit distracted by my being there (and the fact that she's still having hearing issues from all the ear infections she keeps getting), so she was more interested in looking at me and waving than in doing ballet.  It was still cute though!  I can't wait for their recital later this spring!

I thought I'd share a self-portrait.  Not your typical portrait, but it is typically how I can be seen.  :)  and hey, it even fits in with the whole alphabet thing since I am 'B'!

This and that

Today is the last day for voting, so if you were waiting til the end, THIS IS IT!  :)  Voting ends at about 8pm tonight (EST). 

We went to an awesome restaurant this weekend for our anniversary and I have to mention it here!  If you're in this area or are going to be visiting Buford, GA, you MUST go to Sperata in Historic Buford.  Good restaurants are few and far between down here and this one is outstanding!  I had an escargot appetizer that was out of this world delicious and every course was better than the last.  The service was great too and it kind of reminded me of Hell's Kitchen (love that show) because you could watch the chef's cooking (only there wasn't any yelling).  LOL  So, next time you're looking for a place to have a great meal, check them out. 

I'm off to start tallying those votes....I wonder who will win. ;)

life is precious

I don't think I'll ever be the same.  Last night one of my little darlings gave me the scare of my life.  Who would think something so simple as a falling chair could be so scary.  My little Emma was playing in the dining room when the chair she was hanging on fell over on her leg.  I heard her scream from the next room and ran in to pick her up.  She did that thing that every mother knows means a huge cry is about to come (you know, the big, silent inhale).  Next thing I knew, she stopped breathing and stiffened up.  The look on her face is forever embedded in my mind.  I freaked, screaming at her to breathe, begging her to breathe.  She started breathing again about 20 seconds later, but to me it seemed like an eternity.  20 minutes later she was playing again with her sisters with only a bruise on her leg.

Apparently it's common for small children to stop breathing and pass out when faced with extreme pain or even a fright.  It's called a breath holding spell and there are some kids who do this every time they have a temper tantrum!  I don't know how their parents manage.  I went into a complete state of panic and that thought scares me too.  I'm CPR certified, I know (in theory) how to respond when someone stops breathing.  We had to know for when the girls came home from the NICU. 

Now, every time she gets hurt or starts crying I'm going to worry about this happening again.  So, hug your babies a little longer tonight and be thankful for everyone moment you have with them.  I know mine will be getting lots of extra hugs and kisses every day.

Welcome to my new photoblog!  I hope to write here pretty much daily to keep everyone in touch with what's been going on here as well as share lots of pictures.  Here's a cute one of Lily from the 4th of July that I'll start off with!

Here's the album so far, but keep checking back as I edit more pictures! Our neighborhood had a little parade followed by lunch and a water balloon fight for the kids.  It was extremely HOT, but fun too! :)
